We are delighted to announce that Maxstoke Castle will provide the setting for the inaugural Kingsflame Festival, taking place from 2nd to 4th July 2027.
Set within the historic grounds of Maxstoke Castle, this three-day outdoor festival will celebrate England’s rich history, folklore and traditions through storytelling, folk music, jousting, historical martial arts, immersive theatre, traditional crafts and much more. The weekend will culminate in the lighting of the ceremonial Kingsflame pyre.
The festival marks the 1,100th anniversary of England’s unification under King Æthelstan — a significant moment in our nation’s history, and a fitting occasion to celebrate within the grounds of a castle with such a rich heritage of its own.
With a programme of competitive jousting, armoured combat, costume competitions, hands-on workshops and performances from more than 100 musicians, storytellers and artists, Kingsflame promises a memorable weekend for visitors of all ages. Day tickets and full weekend camping passes will be available, with camping within the castle grounds throughout the festival.
We have been working closely with the Kingsflame team over recent months and are delighted to be welcoming this unique celebration. We look forward to seeing the grounds brought to life for what promises to be a very special weekend.
